One of my favourite qualities of daylight occurs at around the time of the winter solstice. It sometimes happens that with the right weather conditions, everything sparkles in a clarity of colour and texture which doesn't seem to be present very often.
Saturday started with a cold, bright morning after a long night of heavy, air-cleansing rain, presenting a clear blue sky through which the sunshine raked low. As I drove past it, the little old church in the village of Tredington stood out with its wooden tower and ancient stonework crisply etched into the world. I parked just off the main street, then walked back and made several pictures from within the churchyard, just because having a camera in my phone meant that I could.
