Two of my regular pictorial themes are doors and windows. The parish church of St Mary at Deerhurst is full of them. It’s a mostly 9th century building, standing close enough to the banks of the River Severn to warrant some substantial modern flood defences.
After visiting the Saxon site yesterday, I found it impossible to decide which of several snapshots I’d made there would be the one choice to post here, so I decided to create a series from them instead, starting with a view looking back out through the main entrance towards the old Yew trees .
