If the light isn’t doing what I want it to do, I’ll add some of my own, in order to create the picture I want.
This window, set deeply into the wall of a church porch, was decorated with some colourful dried flowers, but the sun was shining onto the other side of the building when I called in.
I wanted to add some sparkle and edge to the picture, so I positioned a small, wireless flash on a lightweight stand outside, adding my own artificial sunshine. I also "warmed up" the colour temperature on the camera, to add to the illusion.
This interior wall of the porch was only lit with cool, cloudy skylight, through the open door:
The window by itself looked cold (too blue) and lacked the "edge" I was looking for:

Amazing difference! Beautiful picture. Thanks for the great idea! :-)

Beautiful effect. Cameras don't lie but a little technical knowledge is a wonderful thing!

Susan: thanks. Have a go yourself sometime.
Lee: thank you. The real advantage to me, with this technique, is that my young mind doesn't need to ask my old body to lug heavy lamps, cables and power supplies around any more.
